Info text

The Prague Castle Riding Hall was built to the order of Emperor Leopold the First in 1694. The spacious building replaced the original riding hall from 1572 according to the plans of the famous Baroque architect Jean Baptist Mathey. The riding hall was intended for equestrian training as well as for the joy of riding enjoyed by the

aristocracy. The two sculptures located on the facade are reminiscent of that period. On the other hand, today, the Emperor's imperial eagle is missing, it was removed after the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia.
At present, the riding hall is one of the main exhibition hall in Prague holding regular exhibition events.
