Ottavio Mosto

Baroque sculptor and stuccoer
Info text

He came from the circle of the Roman sculptor Lorenzo Bernini, from whom he adopted his illusive style, which is best seen in the three stucco reliefs on the St Jacob Church in the Prague Old Town. Mosto came to Prague before 1697 upon invitation from Duke Thun-Hohenstein,

to create a statue of St Michael the Archangel at the corner of the Tuscan palace. Apart from that, he sculpted the statue of St Wenceslas surrounded by angels for the Charles Bridge, probably in 1697. He was the first representative of Baroque illusionism in Bohemia.
