Info text

In 1696, on a plot of land close to the Vltava River, František Helfried of Kaiserstein had a Baroque palazzetto in a hexagonal horizontal projection built. It nevertheless had a rectangle court inside. The palace called Kaiserstein Palace was most likely built following the plans of architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi, who at the same time, was building a palace for the Kaiserstein family on the Lesser

Town Square. The palace was bought by the Liechtenstein family at the end of the 18th century. Only the entrance portal was left from the original Baroque facade after the thorough reconstruction in late Empire style in 1864. The palace, which is a dominating feature of the Lesser Town bank of the Vltava River, is the official residence, since the end of the 20th century, of the Czech Republic Government.
