Info text

This extensive complex, the second largest in Prague after Prague Castle, was founded in 1556 as a Jesuit dormitory when the Jesuits came to Prague. Originally the small church of St. Clement stood here and thus gave its name to the complex. After the Battle at White Mountain,

the complex was significantly expanded. Over time, it grew into 5 courtyards and 3 churches, in addition to the celebrated observatory with its tower, the theater and the library. In 1622, the dormitory was used in conjunction with the Carolinium, another dormitory.
