The monument to Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first Czechoslovak president and the founder of independent Czechoslovakia, was unveiled on March 7th 2000 on Hradčanské Square
close to the Prague Castle, on the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary. The statue is a cast based on the original model from 1931 by a sculptor named Otakar Španiel.
