Funicular

The Petrin funicular, since 1890
Significant photo
Info text

In its time, the funicular inaugurated in 1890 was the longest funicular in the entire Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was used, and still is, to transport passengers to the top of the Petrin Hill. The funicular used to be driven by a unique system of two pumps. In 1931, it underwent modernization and since then it uses electrical power. The last reconstruction

and modernization was completed in 1985. If you ride the funicular up or down, you will enjoy the beautiful Prague panorama while resting your legs. Climbing up the hill on foot can be arduous, but an outing on Petrin is definitely worth it. You can also climb up the Petrin observation tower or get lost in the historical Hall of Mirrors.
