Description

This beautiful synagogue is also known as the Jerusalem or Jubilee Synagogue. It was erected from 1905 to 1906 in the area that was formerly the famous Prague ghetto. Among Prague’s synagogues, it figures as the largest and the youngest. The synagogue was built in the highly interesting style of

Moorish architecture according to Wilhelm Stiassny’s design. It is structured as a three-knaved basilica with vaulted Islamic columns the entire length of the knaves. In addition to its unique Art-Nouveau stained-glass windows, the building’s façade is dominated by the six-pointed star of David.
