Villa Amerika

*
Antonín Dvořák Museum
Info text

This Baroque summer palace was built around 1720 for Jan Václav, Count Michna of Vacínov, based on architect Gillián Ignác Dientzenhofer´s design. A charming one-storey building with a mansarded roof which is considered the first Prague realization of this important Baroque architect. The garden is decorated with sandstone group statues

made by master Matyáš Bernard Braun which are allegories to the four seasons. Today's name of the gazebo comes from the beginning of the 19th century, when a garden restaurant named "Amerika" (America) was established here. An exhibition devoted to the great music composer Antonín Dvořák was set up on the premises in 1932.
