The Neo-Renaissance building of the City of Prague Museum was built at Poříčí between 1895 and 1898 following architect Antonín Balšánek´s plans. The facade of the two-storey building is dominated by a work of art by sculptor Ladislav Šaloun – allegory reliefs "History with Art, Science and Trade Turn Our Past Into Fame" and "Allegory of Prague".
The most noteworthy exhibit of the museum is the paper model of Prague from 1826 to 1837 made by Antonín Langweil.
The Langweil's model of Prague shows the historical centre of Prague,
it was made between 1826 and 1837 by Antonín Langweil, an employee of the university library. On approximately twenty square metres, it has more then 2,000 buildings of the historical core of Prague. The scale is 1:480. Today, approximately one-half of the houses do not exist in reality anymore. The model displays the Old Town with the Jewish ghetto, Lesser Town, Prague Castle and Hradčany. The model is made of paper cardboard with wooden elements mostly used for the construction of the buildings and their chimneys.
