Info text

The monastery brewery Strahov was founded in 1140 by King Vladislav the Second. The brewery was first mentioned around the turn of the 13th and 14th century. In 1628, Abbot Kašpar Questenberg decided to have a new brewery built, which was where today's restaurant stands. In 1907, the brewery was closed down and the premises served solely as farm buildings. The brewery was set up again in 2005 during a large-scale and extensive renovation of the entire building. Today the monastery brewery Strahov offers a total capacity of 380 seats in three sitting areas: in the brewery itself, in the restaurant St. Norbert, and in the brewery courtyard.
The cloister

brewery Strahov is a micro-brewery restaurant with an annual capacity of around 1,000 hectolitres of brewed beer. Beer St. Norbert, named after the founder of the Premonstratensian Order in the Strahov monastery, is produced only from natural raw materials – water, malt, hops and yeast. The production respects an old law on beer purity – Reinheitsgebot of 1516. Therefore, in the beer you will find no hop extracts or sugar. The beer is not filtered and not pasteurized. Beer St. Norbert contains residual brewer's yeast containing vitamin B. The highest-placed brewery in Prague offers special unfiltered beer to please your eyes, nose and taste buds.
